Your privacy is a core part of what Stillwater is. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do — and don't do — with it. We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't share it with third parties except as strictly required to run the app.

Stillwater ("we," "us," or "our") is an iOS wellness app designed to help you manage everyday anxiety through short, evidence-based exercises. The app is operated as a sole proprietorship based in California. You can reach us at privacy@seekstillwater.app.
We use the information we collect only to:
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purpose beyond running the app. We do not create profiles for sale. We do not engage in interest-based advertising of any kind.
Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. Supabase encrypts data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your anonymous account and all data associated with it are stored in Supabase's US-based infrastructure.
If you use the app without adding an email address, your data is tied to an anonymous device-based account. Your data remains yours — you can delete it at any time from within the app.
Important: your journal entries are never sent to any AI service. Journal entries are stored privately in Supabase (our secure database) and stay there. Only one specific input — the text you type into the "What do you need right now?" field on the home screen — is processed by AI.
When you type into that field, your text is sent through our secure server (hosted on Cloudflare) to Anthropic's Claude API. Claude reads it solely to classify your intent — for example, determining whether you might benefit from a breathing exercise versus a grounding technique — and returns a classification. The AI's response is never shown to you directly; only the technique cards it surfaces are.

You can turn off AI-assisted routing at any time in Settings → "Use AI to find tools." If you turn it off, you will still have full access to all techniques through your toolkit.
We use a small number of third-party services to run the app. Each receives only the minimum data needed to perform its function:
We do not use Facebook SDKs, Google Analytics, advertising networks, or any tracking SDKs.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We will never sell or rent your information to data brokers or marketing companies.
We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
Some information you provide to Stillwater — including journal entries and text entered into the AI routing field — may constitute "consumer health data" under Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada Senate Bill 370, or the Connecticut Data Privacy Act. This data is addressed separately in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, available at seekstillwater.app/consumer-health-data, which covers what we collect, why, who it's shared with, and how to exercise your rights under these laws.
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
For any other requests, email privacy@seekstillwater.app. We will respond within 30 days.
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Anonymous accounts that have had no activity for 12 consecutive months may be deleted along with all associated data.
Stillwater is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at privacy@seekstillwater.app and we will delete that information.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted storage, and access controls limiting who can access user data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes — especially changes to how we handle your health-related data — we will notify you within the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
